My aquarium

Image
I'll tell you what's inside in my aquarium. First, my substrate - aquasoil. Aquasoil is a substance designed to best imitate the natural substrate of which many river systems and lakes. This substrate has the ability to soften the water of the aquarium using particles in the substrate itself. Here are the pros and cons of using aquasoil as your substrate in your aquarium: PROs 1. Simple to use. 2. Great for growing deep rooted plants and carpet plants. 3. Relatively good value for money. 4. Those that use it swear by it. CONs 1. When initially used it results in a massive ammonia spike, great for establishing nutrients but not so good as adding to an established tank. 2. Not always readily available. 3. Needs a good amount of time to settle as it can make your aquarium quite cloudy. Second, my carpet plants - aquaseed.  After my professor suggested that I should change my set up, I thought of planting some carpet plants. We went fr...

About my Fish

Image
Guppies ( Poecilia reticulata ) They are tropical freshwater fish. Native to South America. They can be found in the slow-flowing rivers, small streams, lakes, ponds and pools and occasionally in the brackish waters.  They are one of the most popular aquarium fish because of its beautifully colored body, low requirements, ability to reproduce quickly and live side by side with many different types of fish. On-going set-up

This is the state of my aquarium now. From day 0 until now. I planted the seeds last month, I spray water 2 times a day every morning and night. I turned on my lights for 8 hours every night.

1st set-up

Image
Sorry for the low quality picture, this was taken by Jola Alvarado. I had pictures and videos on my phone but then I lost my phone. :( This was my aquarium set-up before. I changed it because our prof said my fish is not suit for my set-up. My aquarium now still has no water because the aqua seeds that I planted still needs to grow bigger. The aquarium, aqua soil, rocks, drift wood and some plants in there are all borrowed from my friend. Hehe. Tipid tips. My fish in that aquarium is the strain Hb white guppy which I bought from Pet Haven, Marquee mall but now I changed my fish to Black Moscow guppy.

Why guppy?

The title of my post is "Why Guppy?" means how and why did I choose or come up with this species. Last August, I searched on Google the most common fishes raised in the aquarium. The results are shown below. I chose guppies because my classmate already chose the neon tetra. That's all. Hehehe.
